The Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) has suspended the water supply to Union Councils 9, 10, 11, and 12 in Lyari Town following a major rupture in a 24-inch diameter main pipeline. While the rest of Lyari Town continues to receive water normally, KW&SC engineering and technical teams have initiated emergency repair work on the damaged line. Officials estimate that the maintenance process will take approximately 36 to 48 hours to complete, after which the water supply to the impacted areas will be restored in a phased manner.

Simultaneously, the water utility has launched a aggressive, city-wide enforcement campaign against chronic defaulters to recover outstanding dues. KW&SC teams are targeting commercial and industrial sectors that have failed to clear their utility bills. During a recent operation in Sector 28 of Landhi Town, authorities severed multiple high-volume water connections and sealed industrial premises that collectively owed over PKR 40 million (4 crores) to the corporation, signaling a zero-tolerance policy against non-payment.
