Tragedy in Karachi: PPP UC President Assassinated Over Alleged Anti-Mafia Stance

In a tragic incident in Karachi, a gun attack targeted a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) office near Ghousia Chowk in Orangi Town No. 10, resulting in the death of a local party leader and leaving two workers injured. The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Faisal Abbasi, the PPP President for Union Council (UC) 20, who lost his life on the spot, while the wounded individuals—including 29-year-old Fahad Jamali, who remains in critical condition—were immediately rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. While preliminary police investigations suggest the shooting may stem from personal enmity or an old grudge, authorities are still actively investigating the incident from all possible angles. Meanwhile, PPP Member of the Sindh Assembly (MPA), Ali Ahmed Jan, has strongly condemned the attack, explicitly stating that the party office was intentionally targeted. Refuting the personal enmity narrative, Jan emphasized that Abbasi was a brave and vocal opponent of local drug dealers and land grabbers, declaring his assassination a major loss for the party and demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators.
