Following a tragic incident at the Imambargah Baqiyatullah in Defense Phase 6, the South Zone Police have finalized and implemented a foolproof security strategy to ensure peace and safety during Muharram-ul-Haram. The comprehensive plan includes heightened surveillance, robust snap-checking, and intensified patrolling across all sensitive locations in the district. To ensure meticulous security screenings at major congregations and majalis, authorities have also deployed 34 female searchers alongside the regular police force.
As part of the targeted security deployment, extensive resources have been allocated to major religious sites across the South Zone. Imambargah Baqiyatullah in DHA has been secured with 56 police personnel, 4 police mobiles, and 4 motorbikes, while Imambargah Yasrib is being guarded by 51 officers, 3 mobiles, and 4 motorbikes. In the Kharadar area, 28 officers are stationed at Bara Imambargah, 27 officers with 2 mobiles and 2 motorbikes are deployed at Hussainia Iranian, and Chota Imambargah is secured by 14 officers, one mobile, and 2 motorbikes. Additionally, Tahiri Mosque in Saddar has been provided a security cover of 17 police personnel, 2 mobiles, and 2 motorbikes to maintain law and order during prayers and religious gatherings.
This high-alert security deployment comes a day after a fatal accident occurred at DHA Phase 6’s Imambargah Baqiyatullah, where a vehicle crashed into a crowd, reportedly due to brake failure. The tragic event resulted in the death of a young girl and left 15 others injured. In response, the police have registered a case under terrorism provisions and other legal clauses against three arrested suspects. A spokesperson for the South Zone Police emphasized that all gatherings are being continuously monitored, and urged the public to cooperate fully with law enforcement while promptly reporting any suspicious activity.
