Sindh Govt Announces Fuel Subsidy Up to Rs. 200,000 for Fishermen

KARACHI: In a major relief initiative, the Sindh government has officially launched a massive financial package for fishermen, offering fuel subsidies ranging from Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 200,000 to shield them from high petroleum prices and economic hardship. The decision was finalized during a high-level review meeting of the Fisheries Regulatory Task Force, chaired by the Provincial Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Muhammad Ali Malkani.

Key Details of the Relief Package

Small-scale boat owners will receive between Rs. 100,000 and Rs. 200,000 to help them sustain their livelihoods seamlessly. To ensure complete transparency, the subsidy will be disbursed directly to the fishermen through the secure network of the Sindh Bank. Furthermore, no new registration will be processed without a Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC), and fishermen are now being integrated into the NADRA database for a streamlined digital registration process.

Strict Security and Reforms

Minister Muhammad Ali Malkani emphasized that the CNIC condition is mandatory to prevent unauthorized individuals from exploiting the government package. This integration will also help the government provide essential services like healthcare and education to the fishing community under one roof. Additionally, the Task Force has decided to implement strict and regular government inspections across all jetties in the province. This move aims to enforce legal regulations at fishing hubs and enhance security within maritime boundaries.
