KARACHI: The FIFA World Cup fever has officially gripped the city’s political leadership. Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, joined the enthusiastic residents of Lyari to watch the opening match of the mega football event.
During his visit, the Mayor completely blended in with the passionate local crowd, sharing their excitement and cheering alongside football fans.
Speaking on the occasion, Barrister Murtaza Wahab highlighted Lyari’s rich sports legacy, stating:
“Lyari is the historic hub of football in Pakistan, having consistently produced world-class talent over the decades.”
The Mayor emphasized that on the special directives of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the administration is actively providing state-of-the-art sports facilities across Karachi.
“We are committed to providing our youth with modern sports infrastructure and expanding opportunities for positive activities,” Wahab added. “Today, the world is witnessing the true, peaceful, and sports-loving face of Karachi.”
He concluded by reaffirming his administration’s dedication to the city’s progress, stating that further initiatives for urban development, public amenities, and the promotion of sports will continue at a rapid pace.
