KARACHI: In a bid to promote road safety, ensure smooth traffic flow, and foster public-friendly policing, the Karachi Traffic Police has decided to establish a specialized “Road Safety Officer Unit.” According to a traffic police spokesperson, the initiative aims to provide better facilities to citizens and bridge the communication gap between the public and the police department.
Key Details of the Initiative Road Safety Officers will be stationed across the city’s major and busiest arteries, including Shahrah-e-Faisal, Mauripur Road, Korangi Road, and Shahrah-e-Liaquat. The officers will be responsible for managing traffic flow, guiding commuters regarding alternative routes, providing travel-related information, and offering timely assistance on the road. Furthermore, a core objective of this unit is to enhance public awareness regarding traffic laws, road safety measures, and responsible driving habits.
The spokesperson emphasized that this unit will play a pivotal role in creating a safer travel environment in Karachi, ensuring immediate resolution of commuting issues, and strengthening community policing.
