Gunmen in Double-Cabin Vehicles Open Fire in Karachi’s Saddar; 4 Bystanders Wounded

KARACHI – In a brazen display of lawlessness, armed men in double-cabin vehicles opened fire in the city’s busiest commercial hub, Saddar, leaving four passersby—including a 10-year-old child—critically injured. The incident occurred in broad daylight near the Quetta Bus Stop, turning the bustling market into a scene of chaos and panic. According to eyewitnesses, the suspects used sophisticated weapons, with the sound of heavy gunfire echoing through the streets, forcing citizens to run for their lives.

The Dispute

According to SHO Preedy, Ayub Mirani, the violence allegedly stemmed from a minor dispute. A man identified as Juma had set up a table in front of a transporter’s office. When the transport staff asked him to remove it, Juma reportedly brandished a weapon at them. In retaliation, security guards associated with the transport office arrived in black and white double-cabin vehicles and opened indiscriminate fire, striking innocent bystanders instead of the primary target.

The Victims

The firing resulted in injuries to four individuals who were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The victims have been identified as 10-year-old Allah Muhammad, 14-year-old Hazrat Bilal, 16-year-old Ahsanullah, and 25-year-old Syed Rasool.

Current Situation

Following the shooting, the suspects managed to flee the scene in their vehicles. The incident led to a massive traffic jam and sparked a protest by local residents and shopkeepers against the deteriorating law and order situation and the unchecked movement of private militias in the city. The Preedy Police have registered a case and initiated a crackdown to arrest both Juma and the armed security guards involved in the firing.
