KARACHI: The Federal Constitutional Court has scheduled a contempt of court petition against Sindh Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani for hearing.
A two-member bench, headed by Justice Aamer Farooq, is set to conduct the proceedings on May 12. In connection with the case, the court has issued formal notices to the Advocate General of Sindh, the Commissioner of Karachi, and other relevant authorities.
Case Background: The contempt petition against Saeed Ghani was originally filed in 2019, alleging non-compliance with a court order. Following the latest development, the Constitutional Court has also issued a notice directly to the Provincial Minister.
Action Against Encroachments: In addition to the contempt case, the Federal Constitutional Court has also scheduled hearings for several cases related to illegal constructions and encroachments across Karachi, signaling a crackdown on urban planning violations in the metropolis.
