KARACHI – In a development that has raised eyebrows regarding internal accountability, Sub-Inspector Shahzan Shakeel has been removed from his post after a heated exchange with the son of a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Karachi’s DHA Phase 7.
The Incident
A few days ago, a video went viral on social media showing Sub-Inspector Shahzan Shakeel, the then-Incharge of the Qayyumabad Check Post, stopping a vehicle during routine checking in DHA Phase 7 Extension. The vehicle, reportedly driven by the son of SSP South Mahzoor Ali, was flagged for using a fancy number plate. The interaction led to a heated verbal spat between the officer and the young man.
Official Action
Following the viral footage, SSP South took notice of the incident and ordered an inquiry, appointing SP Clifton as the inquiry officer. Upon completion of the inquiry, a notification was officially issued confirming the transfer of Sub-Inspector Shahzan Shakeel. According to the orders, Shahzan Shakeel has been removed from his position as Qayyumabad Check Post Incharge and has been reassigned to the Shaheen Force South.
Public Reaction
The transfer has sparked a debate on social media, with many citizens questioning whether the officer is being penalized for simply performing his duty and enforcing traffic laws against a high-ranking official’s family member.
