BIEK Alerts NCCIA Over Scores of Fake Social Media Accounts Spreading Misinformation

KARACHI: The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has officially approached the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to take action against dozens of fraudulent social media pages operating under its name.

The Scale of Deception

In a formal letter addressed to the authorities, the BIEK administration identified a total of 33 unauthorized platforms misleading students. This includes 24 fake Facebook accounts and groups, 08 fraudulent Instagram profiles, and 01 unauthorized WhatsApp account.

Demand for Immediate Action

The BIEK management has urged the NCCIA to block these accounts immediately and initiate a crackdown. The board emphasized that these pages are spreading “misleading information,” which has caused significant distress and confusion among the student body.

“Only one official, Meta-verified account is authentic. All other pages claiming to represent the board are counterfeit and risky,” the board stated in its letter.

Investigation into Paper Leaks

Responding to the request, Additional Director NCCIA, Tariq Nawaz, confirmed that an investigation has been launched. Beyond just spreading misinformation, the agency is also scrutinizing these groups for potential involvement in paper leak scams and the circulation of fake examination materials.

The NCCIA has assured that strict legal action will be taken against those operating these pages to protect the academic integrity of the board and the future of the students.
