KARACHI: The Sindh Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) conducted a successful raid on Thursday, arresting an inspector of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) for allegedly accepting a bribe.
The Operation Acting on a citizen’s complaint, the Anti-Corruption team, led by Deputy Director Muhammad Younis Rind, carried out the operation under the supervision of a Judicial Magistrate. The team also included Inspectors Waseem-ul-Hassan and Rizwan Sahar.
The Arrest The suspect, identified as Building Inspector Latafat Mirza, was caught red-handed while allegedly receiving Rs. 50,000 in bribe money. According to Director General Anti-Corruption Imtiaz Ali Abro, the marked currency was recovered from the suspect’s possession on the spot.
The Allegations According to officials, the arrested building inspector was accused of demanding money to prevent the stoppage of construction work, overlooking building map violations, and providing protection to illegal constructions.
Current Status A formal case has been registered against the accused. Authorities have stated that the scope of the investigation is being expanded to identify other potential accomplices within the department.
