KARACHI: Citizens are facing a new wave of gas outages as a formal load-shedding schedule has been implemented across various neighborhoods of the city during morning and evening hours. According to sources cited by Geo News, the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has introduced specific time slots for gas suspension to manage the ongoing shortage.
The New Schedule
Under the new timings, gas will be suspended in the morning from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by an afternoon closure from 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM. Additionally, the night-time suspension will remain in effect from 10:00 PM until 05:30 AM.
Affected Areas
Reports indicate that gas supply has already been severely disrupted in several key localities, causing significant distress to domestic consumers. In North Nazimabad and F.B. Area, multiple blocks reported complete suspension during breakfast hours. Similarly, residents in Malir, Khokhrapar, and Landhi faced prolonged outages throughout the day. Supply also remained suspended for several hours in Orangi Town and North Karachi, while intermittent load-shedding was reported in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Nazimabad, Garden, and Liaquatabad.
The unannounced and scheduled outages have made it difficult for households to prepare meals, forcing many to rely on expensive alternatives like LPG cylinders and restaurant food.
