KARACHI: In a move to alleviate the city’s persistent traffic woes, Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced that one track of the crucial Jahangir Road will be opened to the public within the next few days. During a site inspection of ongoing development projects, the Mayor issued strict directives to expedite the work, acknowledging the immense difficulties faced by commuters.
Mayor Wahab confirmed that one side of the road is nearing completion and must be made operational immediately to provide relief to citizens. Sending a clear warning to the bureaucracy, he stated that he visits these sites weekly to ensure pace, and if any officer is found lagging or causing delays, they should find another job as inefficiency will not be tolerated.
Emphasizing transparency, he noted that all ongoing projects across Karachi are being executed in line with the leadership’s promises to the people. In a significant shift toward participatory governance, the Mayor also announced that KMC will seek direct suggestions from citizens for the upcoming budget to ensure development aligns with actual public needs.
Following the Jahangir Road inspection, the Mayor visited Sir Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah Road to review the carpeting work. He was accompanied by the DG Technical Services (KMC) and other senior officials, whom he instructed to complete the remaining tasks without further delay. The Mayor reiterated his commitment to transforming Karachi’s infrastructure, promising that several large-scale projects are slated to begin across the city in the coming weeks.
