KARACHI: Surgeons at the Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital have successfully removed a life-threatening tumor from the eye of a six-year-old girl hailing from Somalia. The patient, Nemo, was born with a tumor in her eye that had recently begun spreading toward her brain, posing a severe risk to her life.
Dr. Tayyab Afghani, who led the medical team, confirmed that the complex procedure was a complete success. This critical surgery was essential as the tumor’s progression toward the brain was halted, effectively saving the child’s life while also ensuring her eyesight remained protected from permanent damage.
According to Dr. Afghani, the complexity of the case required immediate and precise intervention. Thanks to the timely operation, Nemo is now out of danger and on the path to recovery.
