KARACHI: In a targeted operation against illegal residents, the Karachi Police on Saturday apprehended 98 Afghan nationals living unlawfully in the city’s Old City Area.
According to SSP City Arif Aziz, the operation was part of a broader crackdown on individuals residing in the metropolis without valid legal documentation. The Senior Superintendent of Police confirmed that the detainees were taken into custody after failing to provide proof of legal residency.
In addition to the undocumented foreign nationals, the police also arrested 61 other suspects for violating the Residency Act.
“The operation is aimed at streamlining security and ensuring that all residents comply with local laws,” stated SSP Arif Aziz.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested individuals, and further investigations are underway to identify other illegal settlements in the vicinity.
