KARACHI – Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, arrived at the Saddar Mobile Market to personally supervise the rescue operations following a fire outbreak in the commercial hub. In a proactive move, the Mayor, accompanied by the President of the Market Association, used a snorkel to inspect the firefighting efforts and assess the situation from an elevated vantage point. Due to the rapid response of the fire department and rescue teams, the blaze was successfully contained before it could spread further.
The operation was marked by an exceptionally quick response, with fire brigade teams reaching the spot within 3 to 4 minutes. This swift action ensured that approximately 200 to 250 people were safely evacuated from the building, while billions of rupees worth of mobile phone inventory was protected from destruction.
Trader Community Expresses Satisfaction Muhammad Minhaj Gulfam, President of the Saddar Mobile Market Association, praised the administration’s efficiency, stating that the authorities have clearly learned from past incidents. He noted that the mobilization of all departments was seamless and the trader community is completely satisfied with the timely intervention that prevented a major catastrophe.

He also highlighted that the Building Association’s decision to maintain functional firefighting equipment on-site played a crucial role in assisting the rescue teams to control the fire quickly.
