KARACHI: The School Education Department has launched a crackdown against officials involved in the embezzlement of “School Specific Budgets” (SSB). Following the formal approval of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, proceedings to dismiss the corrupt officials from service have officially commenced.
The Investigation and Show-Cause Notices
In the first phase of the proceedings under service rules, show-cause notices have been issued to six officers. The accused have been ordered to provide proof of expenses or submit the purchased furniture and materials within 15 days. The action stems from a corruption case in District Jacobabad, where educational officers allegedly misused funds and failed to provide evidence of expenditures incurred on schools.
Key Findings and Financial Discrepancies
The investigation reveals that a total of Rs. 13,570,600 was utilized on paper, but no facilities or materials were delivered to the schools. Despite the release of funds, the furniture and materials claimed in official records were never provided to the educational institutions.
Accused Officials Facing Dismissal
The list of officers facing dismissal includes Syed Raza Hussain Shah (Former DEO, Jacobabad), Naila Dayo (Education Officer, Thul), Siddique Ali Mirani (TEO Primary Male, Jacobabad), and Qamar-un-Nisa (TEO Primary Female, Jacobabad). Additionally, action has been initiated against Farhat Yasmeen, the former TEO of Thul, for her removal from service.
The department has made it clear that strict disciplinary action will be taken against those who failed to justify the use of public funds meant for the betterment of students.
