KARACHI – A preliminary post-mortem report has revealed harrowing details of torture inflicted upon four individuals—including three minors—whose bodies were recovered from a dry manhole in Karachi.
The victims, identified as a woman in her 40s, a teenage girl, and two young boys, were subjected to “extreme violence” before their deaths, according to medical officials.
Grim Forensic Findings
Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed reported that the bodies appeared to be several days old. The forensic examination highlighted a pattern of brutal physical trauma:
- Boy (13-14 years): Sustained visible blunt force injuries to the head, face, and neck.
- Boy (approx. 10 years): Found with his throat slit.
- Teenage Girl (14-15 years): Showed signs of severe trauma to the head and facial area.
- Woman (approx. 40 years): Bore multiple deep injuries to the head.
Preliminary police investigations suggest a calculated crime; the victims were reportedly rendered semi-conscious before being killed to prevent resistance.
Discovery and Crime Scene
The bodies were discovered wrapped in blankets and discarded inside a dry manhole. In an apparent attempt to conceal the remains, the perpetrators had placed large stones on top of the blankets.
Following the forensic procedures at the hospital, the remains were moved to the Edhi Morgue as they remain unidentified.
Government and Police Response
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has officially taken notice of the gruesome discovery. He has directed the Inspector General of Police and relevant law enforcement agencies to expedite the investigation and apprehend those responsible for the “barbaric act.”
“Samples have been collected from all four victims for chemical analysis. The final cause of death will be determined once the comprehensive laboratory reports are issued,” stated Dr. Syed.
Authorities are currently cross-referencing missing person reports across the city to establish the identities of the deceased.
