KARACHI: Law enforcement agencies have apprehended Adil Zaman, a proclaimed offender absconding for six years in the high-profile murder case of renowned TV anchorperson Mureed Abbas. The suspect was taken into custody upon his arrival/presence at Peshawar Airport.
Following his arrest, the police produced Adil Zaman before a competent court in Karachi. The tribunal granted a judicial remand, remanding the accused into custody until November, while directing the Investigating Officer (IO) to submit a supplementary charge sheet.
The primary accused in the case, Atif Zaman, has already received the death penalty. With the capture of the co-accused absconder, full-scale legal proceedings regarding his trial are now underway.
