KARACHI: A Consumer Protection Court in South Karachi has ordered Pakistan Railways to pay PKR 50,000 in damages to a citizen following a lawsuit over a severe train delay. The complainant had booked a Khyber Mail ticket from Ghotki to Karachi, but the train departed at 10:11 PM instead of its scheduled time of 6:40 PM, ultimately arriving in Karachi at 10:45 AM instead of 6:40 AM. Due to this substantial delay, the passenger’s pre-planned commitments were severely disrupted, prompting the court to rule in favor of the citizen and direct Pakistan Railways to pay the compensation.
