KARACHI: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Karachi Police has arrested two key members of an inter-provincial drug smuggling ring in the Gulbahar area, recovering high-quality drugs worth millions of rupees in the international market.
The Operation
Acting on a tip-off regarding the presence of extortionists linked to the Lyari Gang War, an SIU team conducted a targeted raid. During the operation, two prominent operatives of inter-provincial drug dealer Asghar Baloch were apprehended.
Details of the Arrested and Seized Contraband
The arrested suspects have been identified as Bahadur Ali and Imran Haider. According to the SIU spokesperson, police recovered 8.570 kg of high-quality Weed from their possession. The estimated value of the seized narcotics is approximately Rs 110 million (11 Crore) in the international market.
Criminal Background
Investigations reveal that the suspects are close associates of Asghar Baloch and are deeply involved in the distribution of narcotics across various cities. They are also linked to extortion activities associated with Lyari-based criminal groups.
Current Status
A case has been registered against the suspects at the SIU Police Station. Authorities are currently scrutinizing their previous criminal records, and further legal proceedings and investigations are underway to dismantle the rest of the network.
