KARACHI – DIGP Traffic Karachi, Mazhar Nawaz Sheikh, has expressed grave concern over the deteriorating traffic conditions in the city, stating that the situation is becoming more critical by the day, leading to severe hardships and frequent accidents for citizens. Presiding over a ‘Darbar’ at the South Auditorium—attended by all Traffic SSPs, DSPs, Section Officers, and Record Keepers—the DIGP emphasized that improving the flow of traffic is a collective responsibility shared by the traffic police and other relevant stakeholders.
He further stressed that indiscriminate enforcement of traffic laws is non-negotiable and must be applied across the board without any bias. Officers and personnel were directed to ensure their presence in the field, with the DIGP noting that the force must be visible and proactive on the roads to manage the chaos. A stern warning was issued regarding attendance and performance, stating that strict disciplinary action will be taken against those found absent or negligent in their duties. Mazhar Nawaz Sheikh clarified that he would personally monitor the performance of all sections and the deployment of personnel to ensure accountability, reiterating that the department’s primary goal is to alleviate the suffering of commuters through better management and disciplined enforcement.
