KARACHI: A high-security alert has been sounded across the metropolis following a chilling intelligence report revealing the presence of terrorists in over 75 localities. Law enforcement agencies have been placed on standby as the movement of suspected elements has been tracked on eight major highways.
Intelligence Insights According to a secret report compiled by the Special Branch, banned outfits are actively using smuggling routes to move across the city. The report highlights that CPEC projects, government buildings, and sensitive installations are primary targets. Intelligence also points towards a nexus between groups including BLA, BLF, Majeed Brigade, and Sindhudesh Liberation Army. Masterminds such as Asghar Ali Shah (SRA) and Dr. Shafi Burfat are reportedly orchestrating and supporting these activities.
Foreign Funding and Smuggling Links Sources indicate that intelligence agencies have found evidence of foreign funding fueling these operations. The report further warns that certain student organizations and educational institutions are being exploited for terrorist activities. There is also an urgent recommendation to strictly monitor smuggling routes originating from Afghanistan.
Police Response and Strategy In a high-level meeting chaired by IG Sindh and Additional IG Karachi, a comprehensive security plan was finalized. This includes increased monitoring at all entry and exit points and the deployment of the Quick Response Force (QRF) in every district. Senior officers have been ordered to personally supervise sensitive areas, while daily “General Hold-up” and snap-checking will be conducted twice a day. Additionally, an intensified crackdown against professional beggars has been initiated as part of the broader security sweep. The CTD and Special Branch have been directed to ensure real-time intelligence sharing with district police to preempt any untoward incidents.
