KARACHI: The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a scheduled gas load-shedding program specifically targeting industrial consumers across the region.
According to a spokesperson for the SSGC, gas supply to all industrial units will remain suspended for 24 hours, starting from 8:00 AM on Sunday until 8:00 AM on Monday. This move is part of the company’s strategy to manage load requirements during the peak winter season.
Impact on Domestic and Commercial Sectors
The spokesperson further clarified the schedule for non-industrial users:
- Domestic & Commercial Consumers: Gas supply will continue to face suspension during night hours, specifically from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
- Regular Hours: Outside of the specified night-time suspension, supply is expected to remain available for routine use.
The business community has frequently expressed concerns over such shutdowns, citing a decrease in production capacity, while the utility provider maintains that these measures are necessary to maintain line pressure for high-priority domestic areas.
