KARACHI: Sindh Interior Minister, Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, has issued directives to ensure “foolproof” security arrangements across the province on the occasion of Shab-e-Baraat.
Key Security Directives:
To maintain law and order and protect citizens during the holy night, the Minister has outlined the following measures: DIGs and SSPs of all districts have been ordered to implement special security protocols at mosques, Imambargahs, shrines, and dargahs. Additional police personnel and mobile patrols will be deployed at religious gatherings and open-space congregations. Snap checking, walk-through gates, and the use of metal detectors must be ensured at sensitive locations. Effective security will be provided at open grounds and graveyards where citizens gather for prayers. The Minister also emphasized seamless coordination between the Police, Rangers, and other law enforcement agencies.
Logistics and Monitoring:
Centralized control rooms will remain operational 24/7 during the event to monitor activities. Traffic police have been tasked with enforcing a comprehensive management plan around major religious sites and crowded areas to prevent congestion. Any suspicious activity must be met with an immediate and timely response from the forces on the ground.
Minister Lanjar stressed that a dedicated plan should be in place to facilitate visitors at shrines, ensuring both their safety and convenience during the spiritual night.
