KARACHI – In a significant development for the city’s infrastructure, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah is set to inaugurate the newly constructed Korangi Causeway Bridge today. The project aims to provide a permanent solution to the traffic woes of residents in Korangi, Landhi, and surrounding industrial areas.
Project Details and Timeline The modern bridge, built over the Malir River with a total cost of PKR 6,135 million, spans 1.4 kilometers in length and 26 meters in width. Construction on this mega-project began in July 2023 and was successfully completed in January 2026, meeting its strategic deadline to serve the citizens of Karachi.
End to Monsoon Woes The Korangi Causeway has historically been a major bottleneck, often submerging during heavy monsoon rains and cutting off vital links between Korangi and the rest of the city. According to the Sindh CM’s spokesperson, this modern bridge will ensure uninterrupted traffic flow even during high water levels in the Malir River, significantly reducing travel time and fuel costs for commuters and heavy transport vehicles.
“This bridge is not just a structure; it’s a lifeline for the city’s industrial hub that will put an end to decades of traffic misery,” stated the spokesperson.
