KARACHI: The Sindh Bar Council (SBC) has formally demanded the immediate removal of the Governor of Sindh, citing concerns over his alleged involvement in partisan political activities. According to a press release issued by the legal body, the Council expressed its grave reservations regarding the use of the Governor House for political purposes. The SBC has called upon President Asif Ali Zardari to take immediate action and remove the Governor from his post to maintain the sanctity of the constitutional office.
The Council emphasized that a constitutional office must remain neutral and stay away from party politics. Furthermore, the SBC urged the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to clarify its stance regarding power-sharing with the federal government and to clear its position regarding parties that support the division of Sindh. The Sindh Bar Council maintained that the Governor’s current conduct is inconsistent with the requirements of his office, which demands impartiality and a focus on constitutional duties rather than political maneuvering.
