KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has once again directed the Chief Secretary of Sindh to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the Director General (DG) of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) and other officials for failing to pay pensions to retired employees.
During the hearing, Justice Adnan-ul-Karim Memon expressed strong displeasure over the Chief Secretary’s failure to submit a progress report. “Should we summon the Chief Secretary to court for every single case?” the Justice remarked, emphasizing that pension is a legal right of every employee.
The court warned of stern action against responsible officials if judicial orders remain unimplemented, clarifying that this order will remain in effect until the last retired employee receives their dues. The Chief Secretary has been directed to submit a comprehensive progress report at the next hearing. Consequently, the court has adjourned the proceedings for two weeks, maintaining pressure on the provincial administration to resolve the long-standing grievances of the retired KDA staff.
