SHC Mandates 10% Free Education Quota in Sindh Private Schools, Strict Enforcement Ordered

KARACHI: In a significant move to uphold educational rights, the Sindh High Court (SHC) has mandated all private schools across the province to provide free education to at least 10% of their total student enrollment. Following the court’s landmark orders, the Government of Sindh and the Directorate of Private Institutions have issued strict directives for immediate implementation.

Under these new regulations, all private educational institutions must ensure that 10% of their students are admitted under the “zero-fee” category, and schools are now legally bound to submit documented evidence of these free admissions to the relevant authorities. This directive aims to ensure the strict application of the Sindh Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2013.

The government has further clarified that any school failing to comply with the free quota will face severe legal action. Additionally, relevant officials have been warned that they will be held personally responsible for any negligence in enforcing these orders within their respective jurisdictions. This move is expected to provide much-needed relief to deserving families and integrate underprivileged children into the formal education system.
