KARACHI – In anticipation of the holy night of Shab-e-Barat, the Karachi Police has issued high-alert security directives to ensure the safety of citizens and maintain law and order across the metropolis. Additional IG Karachi, Azad Khan, has officially instructed all Zonal DIGs, District SSPs, and subordinate officers to implement a “foolproof” security plan. The measures aim to protect religious gatherings and public spaces during the spiritual occasion.
Key Security Measures
Enhanced security presence will be ensured at mosques, Imambargahs, shrines, and cemeteries. Police mobiles and motorcycle squads will intensify patrolling on main highways and inner-city streets. Law enforcement agencies have been directed to keep a strict watch on suspicious individuals and those listed in the Fourth Schedule. Furthermore, police officials will remain in constant contact with the organizers of religious gatherings and their volunteers to maintain coordination.
Zero Tolerance for Fireworks
The Additional IG specifically emphasized a strict crackdown on the sale and use of fireworks. Orders have been issued to take immediate legal action against anyone involved in the manufacturing or selling of firecrackers to prevent any untoward incidents.
Emergency Preparedness
To further bolster safety, the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) has been put on high alert. Additionally, the Traffic Police have been tasked with making special arrangements to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles near graveyards and busy thoroughfares.
