KARACHI: In a brazen daylight robbery, motorcycle-borne dacoits looted Rs 8 million from employees of an electronics store near Zebunnisa Street in the Preedy police remit on Saturday.
The Incident
According to police officials, two employees of an electronics shop had withdrawn the cash from a private bank in the Saddar area. As they were heading back, two armed suspects on a motorcycle—who had been trailing them—intercepted the employees near a jewelry shop on Zebunnisa Street. The robbers held the employees at gunpoint, snatched the bag containing the cash, and managed to escape the scene unchallenged.
Police Action
Acting SHO Preedy, Shah Faisal, stated that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered based on the complaint filed by the shop’s employee. We have launched an investigation into the incident and are scanning CCTV footage from the route to identify the culprits.
IG Sindh Takes Notice
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, has taken strict notice of the heist and sought a detailed report from Karachi Police Chief Azad Khan. According to a Sindh Police spokesperson, the IGP has directed the immediate use of modern technology and all available resources to track down the suspects. He further emphasized a thorough investigation from all angles, ensuring the victim’s statement is central to the probe to ensure the swift arrest of the criminals.
