KARACHI – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light rain and drizzle in the city on February 18 and 19, likely coinciding with the first day of Ramadan, under the influence of a new western weather system.
According to Anjum Nazir Zaigham, Deputy Director of PMD, a fresh western disturbance is expected to enter the country on February 17. This system is anticipated to bring drizzle or light rain in Karachi on February 18–19, while thunderstorms and rain are also expected in various districts of rural Sindh. Consequently, overcast or partly cloudy skies are likely to prevail in the metropolitan area at the start of the holy month.
The Deputy Director further noted that a series of western winds are expected to enter Pakistan consecutively throughout March, potentially bringing more rain across various cities. On Thursday, Karachi recorded a minimum temperature of 18.2°C and a maximum of 31.6°C, indicating a gradual shift in the seasonal pattern.
