IG Sindh Orders Intensified Crackdown on Drug Mafia and Illegal Immigrants

KARACHI – Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, chaired a high-level review meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO) to evaluate police operations against drug syndicates and illegal foreign residents across the province. The meeting was attended in person by Additional IGs of Karachi and Special Branch, while Zonal DIGs and district SSPs participated via video link.

During the session, the DIG Special Branch briefed the participants on intelligence-driven operations against “A-Plus” category drug and Gutka Mawa mafias, specifically those targeting educational institutions. It was further reported that the repatriation of illegal immigrants is proceeding in phases according to the Government of Pakistan’s policy.

IGP Javed Alam Odho emphasized a strict zero-tolerance policy toward narcotics, warning that legal action will be taken against any police officers found negligent in registering cases against drug peddlers. While acknowledging a significant improvement in Karachi’s street crime situation, the IG stressed the need for consistent efforts to maintain this momentum.

The Sindh Police chief further directed officers to ensure their presence in the field and instructed that all data regarding illegal immigrants must be verified through NADRA for secure record-keeping. He reiterated that the elimination of organized crime and the safety of citizens remain the department’s top priorities.
