KARACHI: A specialized technical and investigative team arrived at the Gul Plaza site today to conduct a detailed assessment of the building following the devastating fire incident. Accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner South, the committee members inspected the ground floor and the interior structure of the building. The team carefully examined the shops and merchandise gutted by the fire to evaluate the extent of the damage and determine the building’s structural integrity.
Commander Rescue 1122, Humair Wahid, provided an update to the media regarding the ongoing efforts, stating that despite a rigorous overnight search operation, no bodies or human remains have been recovered from the cleared areas so far. He noted that accessing the basement and the sections where the structure collapsed remains a significant challenge for rescue workers, making it premature to provide a final timeframe for the completion of the operation. During the clearing process, any cash or valuables found within the debris are being systematically documented and handed over to the local administration for safekeeping.
