KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) Registrar has formally responded to the provincial Home Department regarding the formation of a judicial commission to probe the Gul Plaza tragedy.
According to the official correspondence, the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court has requested the provincial government to submit the Terms of Reference (ToRs) before the formal establishment of the commission.
The Chief Justice has specifically instructed the Sindh Home Department to provide these initial terms and conditions for the inquiry. A final decision to constitute the judicial commission will be made only after the provincial government’s proposed terms are thoroughly reviewed.
This development follows a previous move by the Sindh Home Department, which had approached the SHC on the directives of the Chief Minister of Sindh to request a formal judicial inquiry into the incident. The submission of ToRs is now seen as a crucial step in determining the legal framework for the investigation.
