KARACHI: In a major relief move for the victims of the Gul Plaza tragedy, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced the establishment of 1,200 free-of-cost stalls at the Polo Ground to help traders resume their businesses. The Mayor has directed the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) officials to immediately draft a comprehensive rehabilitation plan. According to the decision, the stalls will be set up in the Polo Ground, located within the city’s Red Zone, subject to necessary permissions.
Under this initiative, 1,200 stalls will be provided free of charge to the affected shopkeepers. To ensure swift implementation, KMC officers have been instructed to maintain close contact with the Gul Plaza administration and the affected traders to coordinate the setup.
Mayor Murtaza Wahab emphasized that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the Sindh Government, and KMC stand firmly with the victims during this difficult time.
“Ramadan is a peak season for our traders, and we are committed to providing every possible support to ensure they do not lose their livelihood during this critical time,” the Mayor stated.
He further added that the PPP shares the grief of the affected community and will prioritize their swift recovery and rehabilitation through this emergency business setup.
