KARACHI: Pakistan Customs officials at Jinnah International Airport successfully intercepted a smuggling attempt, recovering over a kilogram of gold jewelry and a large cache of expensive perfumes from a passenger arriving from the United States.
The Operation Acting on profiling-based suspicion, Customs personnel intercepted a passenger at the International Arrival terminal. Although the traveler attempted to pass through the Green Channel, officials diverted him to the Red Channel for a thorough inspection and baggage scanning.
The Recovery During the scanning process, officials discovered a significant quantity of taxable and dutiable goods in commercial quantities. The seized items include 1,185 grams of gold jewelry along with a large quantity of high-end cosmetics and perfumes.
Valuation and Legal Action The total estimated market value of the recovered goods is approximately Rs. 58 million (5.8 crore). Authorities have confiscated the items and registered a formal case against the passenger for further investigation.
