KARACHI: In a bid to curb overpricing and ensure the strict implementation of government-mandated rates, the Commissioner of Karachi has established three high-level monitoring teams to assist district magistrates across the city.
To streamline the operation, the city has been divided into three regions. These newly formed monitoring teams have been directed to conduct frequent visits to complaint centers, Model Bazars, and major commercial hubs to ensure that the administration’s efforts to provide relief to citizens remain effective and transparent.
On the first day of the intensified campaign, Karachi administration officials conducted extensive raids across all districts. The magistrates inspected prices at 491 locations and penalized 196 profiteers, imposing a total fine of Rs 1,882,000. During these inspections, officials also personally supervised the sale of essential commodities at official rates to ensure immediate relief for the public.
