KARACHI: The Pak Colony Police successfully foiled a targeted killing attempt on a local doctor, arresting a contract killer and the mastermind behind the plot—a medical store employee. According to police officials, the medical store worker, identified as Younis, had allegedly hired a 17-year-old expert shooter, Usman Manzoor, for a sum of Rs. 500,000 to assassinate Dr. Abdullah.
The Investigation and Motive
The investigation revealed that the professional rivalry stemmed from a dispute over medicine sales. The primary suspect, Younis, confessed that he harbored a grudge against Dr. Abdullah because the doctor would frequently advise his patients to purchase medicines from other stores instead of his own.
The Execution Plan
During interrogation, the shooter, Usman, disclosed that Younis had promised Rs. 500,000 for the hit on Dr. Abdullah, who operates a clinic in the Shershah area. The suspects had closely monitored the doctor’s routine, noting that he typically closed his clinic around 11:00 PM and walked from Haroonabad to his residence. The plan was to intercept and target the doctor on this specific walking route after work.
Police Action
Acting on intelligence, the Pak Colony Police intervened before the plan could be executed, taking both suspects into custody. Further legal proceedings are currently underway.
