KARACHI – Residents of the provincial capital experienced a sharper chill today as cold winds continued to sweep across the city. The intensity of the cold was particularly felt during the late-night and early-morning hours.
Temperature and Weather Forecast
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD):
- Minimum Temperature: Recorded at 14°C.
- Current Temperature: Hovering around 16°C.
- Expected Maximum: Forecasters predict the mercury will rise to between 23°C and 24°C later today.
Currently, northeasterly winds are blowing at a speed of 18 km/h, with humidity levels recorded at 54%.
Air Quality Concerns
While the weather turns colder, the city’s air quality remains a major concern. Karachi is currently ranked 5th on the list of the world’s most polluted cities.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) has classified the atmosphere as “highly unhealthy.” Health experts have advised citizens—particularly children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues—to take necessary precautions and wear masks when outdoors.
