KARACHI – The cold wave continues to grip the city as icy winds from Balochistan persist, resulting in the lowest temperatures of the current winter season for the second consecutive day.
Record-Breaking Cold
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi’s overall minimum temperature was recorded at 8.1°C. However, the intensity of the cold was much higher in the outskirts and suburban areas, where the mercury plummeted to a freezing 6°C.
Area-wise Minimum Temperatures:
- Jinnah Terminal: 6°C (City’s lowest)
- Gulistan-e-Jauhar & Shahrah-e-Faisal: 9°C
- Mauripur: 10°C
- Bin Qasim: 10.5°C
Yesterday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 8.9°C, while the maximum reached 25.6°C.
Forecast for the Next 24 Hours
Weather officials predict that dry and cold weather will prevail over the next 24 hours.
- Expected Minimum: Between 8°C and 10°C.
- Expected Maximum: Between 24°C and 26°C.
- Winds: Northeasterly dry winds are expected to blow at speeds of 5 to 20 km/h.
- Humidity: Levels are likely to fluctuate between 15% and 60%.
