KARACHI: A suspect killed during a recent police encounter in the Shah Latif Town area has been identified as a “most wanted” criminal involved in several heinous crimes, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
Identification and Criminal Record The deceased suspect, identified as Shamir, was a high-profile criminal wanted by the police for a long period. According to investigators, Shamir was a key member of a gang notorious for house robberies. He was specifically wanted for:
- Violence against women during dacoities.
- Murder and Attempted Murder.
- Multiple cases of Armed Robbery.
The Encounter The incident occurred when Shamir and his accomplices were reportedly looting citizens. Upon spotting a police patrol, the suspects opened fire in an attempt to escape. Shamir was killed in the retaliatory firing by the police, while his associates managed to flee the scene.
Forensic Investigation Police officials stated that a pistol recovered from the possession of the killed suspect has been sent for forensic analysis to determine if the weapon was used in previous criminal activities or murders.
Police are currently conducting raids in the surrounding areas to apprehend the fleeing accomplices.
