KARACHI – A cashier was injured on Thursday after unidentified armed assailants opened fire at a petrol pump near the 2-Minute Chowrangi area of New Karachi.
Details of the Incident
According to the Bilal Colony Police, the incident occurred at a PSO petrol pump. The victim, identified as 40-year-old Prakash, son of Jetha, sustained gunshot wounds and was immediately shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital via a Chhipa ambulance for medical treatment.
Conflict Over Refueling
SHO Bilal Colony, Anwarullah, stated that the petrol pump was crowded with customers at the time of the incident. Two unidentified men on a motorcycle arrived and attempted to refuel out of turn. When the cashier, Prakash, intervened and asked them to wait or follow the queue, a heated argument broke out.
In a fit of rage, the armed suspects opened fire on the cashier and managed to flee the scene on their motorcycle.
Police Investigation
Following the report of the firing, police teams reached the spot to secure the area. Investigators are currently in the process of obtaining CCTV footage from the cameras installed at the petrol pump and surrounding buildings to identify the attackers and track their escape route.
The police have registered a case and are conducting raids to apprehend the culprits.
