CM Sindh Approves Rs. 500 Million Grant for The Kidney Centre Expansion

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved a one-time grant of Rs. 500 million for the development and expansion of The Kidney Centre (TKC). The announcement was made during his visit to the facility, where he also inaugurated a new Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Visit Highlights and Expansion Plans

During the visit, the CM inaugurated the Phase-II ICU and inspected the 6th floor, which is dedicated to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. In addition to the current grant, the CM pledged to increase the annual grant for the center from Rs. 300 million to Rs. 500 million starting next year. He also paid a glowing tribute to Mrs. Marriana Karim, Chairperson of the Board of Governors, for her 40 years of dedicated humanitarian service to the institution.

Commitment to Public-Private Partnership

Addressing the administration, the Chief Minister emphasized that Sindh’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model remains unparalleled in Pakistan. He stated that investing in healthcare is an investment in humanity, dignity, and hope, adding that no patient in Sindh should suffer due to a lack of facilities.

Healthcare for All

The CM highlighted that patients from across Pakistan seek treatment at The Kidney Centre. Responding to the need for specialized care for kidney patients with cardiac issues, he invited the administration to submit a formal proposal for a dedicated cardiac unit, promising immediate financial support. The visit was attended by Provincial Health Minister Dr. Azra Pechuho, Health Secretary Tahir Sangi, TKC Chairperson Marriana Karim, Dr. Wahaj, and other senior officials.
