KARACHI: The ongoing cold wave sweeping across the country has firmly gripped the provincial capital, with Karachi recording its coldest night of the current winter season.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the city’s minimum temperature plummeted to 9.3°C. The chilly conditions persisted into the morning, with the temperature hovering around 11°C until 10:00 AM.
Weather Conditions and Winds
The intensified cold is attributed to icy winds blowing from Balochistan. Current weather metrics for the city include:
- Maximum Expected Temperature: 24°C
- Humidity: 43%
- Wind Speed: 7 km/h (North-easterly direction)
Forecast Accuracy
This significant drop in temperature follows a forecast issued by the PMD a week ago, which warned citizens that the mercury could dip into single digits due to an approaching cold spell.
Meteorologists expect the cold and dry weather to continue for the next few days, advising residents to take necessary precautions against the sudden chill.
